We at OnPointe consider ourselves lucky that we get to spend time with such incredible people. Here’s why:
1) You’re committed.
From 6am to 8:30pm, our classes are full of people who understand the dedication required to make a positive change. Some of our clients get into the studio 3 or more times a week! And believe me, we see your incredible results.
Words of wisdom from Wen: “You will be transformed. If you do anything consistently, you will be transformed.”
2) You’re smart cookies.
Pilates is as much an exercise for the brain as it is for the body! So much of what we do requires intention, precision, and focus. We understand how difficult it can be to wake your mind up at 6 in the morning, or shut it down after a long day of work, and we hope you agree that it’s worth it! When you get in that “zone,” thinking only about your body, breath, and the exercise at hand, Pilates can be a meditative experience.
3) You’re goof balls just like us.
Let’s be real, there’s no way we could take ourselves seriously all day every day. We’re so grateful that you understand when it’s time to focus and when we can get silly. After all, working out should be fun!
4) You’re open and trusting.
Our top priority at OnPointe is taking care of you, and in order to do that, we need your help. We so appreciate when you share with us your goals, the way your body is feeling, and what’s happening in your personal and work life. All of this allows us to figure out when to push you a bit harder and when to encourage you to take a day off. Sharing this information amongst instructors is a huge part of what makes our team dynamic successful.
It takes courage to trust someone with your well-being, and we are truly honored you are willing to share that journey with us.
5) You step outside your comfort zone.
Admit it: when you first walked into a Pilates studio, you saw the equipment and nearly bolted. Pilates equipment is very bizarre looking, and can definitely be intimidating to first time Pilates-ers. And even after you’ve been taking class for a while, there are always new exercises that are strange, scary, and initially frustrating. We so appreciate you giving it all a try!
6) Let’s hear it for the ladies.
One of my favorite aspects of teaching is meeting so many incredible women. It is extraordinarily inspiring to see such intelligent, powerful, down-to-earth females who understand the importance of taking care of themselves. We ladies can be far harder on ourselves than we are on anyone else, so it’s important to make our successes just as big of a deal.
We also want you to feel that our studio is a place of respite where you can build up your confidence and yourself free of judgment. YOU allow the success of that environment.
7) Shout out to the fellas.
As a guy, walking into your first Pilates class can’t be easy. It’s a largely female-dominated field, and though we’re slowly evening those scales, we understand the hesitation you have to get over to test it out. Thank you for trying it out long enough to get addicted!
8) You’re patient.
So many Pilates exercises are subtle, abstract, and downright strange. We so appreciate you giving movements a second (and third, and fourth…) chance, especially the weird ones.
Every day, we see people in all walks of life who are dedicated to making their bodies feel better—and the better your body feels, the more you can contribute to the rest of the world.
